Sassy has been manufacturing shoes since 2005. The supplier which started as a fashion company is specializing in shoes, clothing, bags and accessories. It provides the products for all level market prices.
Seventy five per cent of the total output is sent overseas. Australia accounts for 60 per cent of exports. EU members i.e Spain, Italy and Portugal take up the rest.
Type of shoes available by the company is casual. Prices are typically from less than $5 to more than $100. A flip flops style shoe with rubber outsole and pandanus woven as insole is offered at $4.11 per pair. Men's boot completely made of leather and decorated with brass buttons is offered at $112.
Skins from cows, goats, sheep and snakes are the main materials used. Its usually combined with rubber for the outsole or heels and some accessories from plastic beads, semi precious stones, shells and so on to put on the uppers. All materials are obtained from Denpasar (Bali) or Surabaya (East Java).
Sassy has no designer as the owner works independence on this task and may release up to eight new models per month. She works closely with buyers who have customized orders. Samples are finished within seven days, depending on availability of materials and complexity of production.
The company which employs six full time workers has a factory in Denpasar (Bali) and a showroom in Kuta district. The complex has a combined area of 200sqm and houses sewing, stamping and sanding machine. All equipment is made in China and purchased locally. During peak seasons in August until January, up to 16 part timers can be hired by Sassy Shop.
QC is carried out by 3 inspectors. Each stage of production from material selection to packaging is examined.
The company requires a minimum order of 14 pairs per model. Delivery usually takes between five to seven days. Poly bags are normally used as packaging.
